Elliptical Static Mixer

This mixers are designed  for low to medium viscosity fluids and are not suitable for fluids with high viscosity. Elliptical mixers have the most usage in the market and most of its use is in the water and wastewater industries.

The main parts forming the elliptical mixers are:

Body: The body, that is cylindrical, has the task to keep the blades of the mixer.

Flange: At the beginning and end of the body, holed-plates, called flange, are embedded so by these plates connection of mixer to the pipeline would be possible.

Mixer blades: The blade is made up of a number of elements. In fact, each element is an oval-shaped plate’s half that are connected to each other with 30 or 45 degree angle (as X).

This series of mixers operation principals is based on the division and rotation. In this way, in the first stage, as the material enters the mixer and deal with the first element, the fluid is divided into two parts. Since each half of the fluid moves in the same direction with oval-plates, with the approach of the semis to the end of the plates and collision with the upper and lower walls, they go to an empty space; in conclusion, each part does a 90 degree rotation. This rotation causes the collision of fluid halves in the end of the element and making a vortex current and at last, the mix of the halves with each other. This procedure is repeated with the approach of fluid to the next elements, the only difference is, because of the arrangement of elements, rotation point would be in the opposite of the previous direction.

This form of division and producing curved lines widely is useful for fluids with low viscosity and high current.

It is mentioned that mixers with 4 and 6 blades, mainly, are useful for most usages.
